FL - Flawless, no inclusions at all. (rare and very expensive
VVS1 / VVS2 - Very, very slightly included. Very difficult to see inclusions under 10x magnification.
VS1 / VS2 - Very slightly included. Unable to see inclusions with an unaided eye.
SI1 / SI2 - Slightly included. Inclusions are visible under 10x magnification. Best value for diamonds because flaws are not visible to the naked eye.
SI3 - Not a GIA grade. Between SI2 and I1 in clarity, but will be graded as I1 by GIA and SI3 by EGL. Please do not purchase if you need an "SI" quality diamond. Wholesalers use this grade as well as the rapaport book, so we have included it to help you save money if you would like something between SI2 and I1 in quality. Flaws may be visible to the naked eye, but are hard to see if you are not trained to see inclusions.
I1 - Included diamond. Inclusions visible to the naked eye, but still a good value.
I2 / I3 - We do not sell these because they are too cloudy in appearance and can break if the setter applies too much pressure or the diamond should hit a hard object at the right cleavage angle, especially I3. I1 or higher is strong enough to last a lifetime and is highly recommended over I2 and I3.
