metal setting

14K Yellow Gold - Prefferred over 18K due to higher strength.

14K White Gold - Prefferred over 18K due to higher strength and whiter alloy color, but contains higher nickel content.

18K Yellow Gold - Softer but more yellow in tone than 14K. A platinum prong setting is used for the center diamond, see below.

18K White Gold - Softer and not as white as 14K. May require occasional tightening. 14K or Platinum recommended. A platinum prong setting is used for the center diamond, see below.

Platinum - Strongest metal for jewelry and whiter in color than 14K white gold.

Note: If selecting 18K, please be aware that the prong setting which houses the center diamond will be made of platinum. This is for your protection, since 18K prongs may become loose and require tightening from everday use. As a general rule, we do not set diamonds over 0.25ct. into an exposed or elevated 18K gold prong setting.
